Sacramento, California – Governor Gavin Newsom today introduced that he has signed AB 1780 by Assemblymember Phil Ting (D-San Francisco) to ban legacy and donor preferences within the admissions process for personal, nonprofit establishments. Legacy standing and donor preferences have long been excluded from the state’s public college admissions course of. Some of those that have arrived beneath the sponsorship coverage could also be eligible to remain in the U.S. legally via different programs.
