BYD has announced a larger version of its Seal 07 electric sedan, expanding the model just five months after the original launch.
Dimensions and powertrain details
The filing with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology shows the new Seal 07 is 85 mm longer and 50 mm wider than its predecessor. Overall length now measures 5,080 mm, width 1,960 mm, and height 1,495 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,960 mm. Those figures place the updated sedan noticeably bigger than rivals such as the Mazda 6e and the Tesla Model 3.
Two battery‑electric configurations are listed. The lower‑output model delivers 245 kW from a rear‑mounted motor and carries a kerb weight of 1,975 kg. A higher‑output version produces 300 kW and weighs 2,060 kg. Both claim a top speed of 240 km/h. Battery capacity and official range numbers have not been disclosed.
The current Seal 07, introduced earlier this year, uses a rear‑mounted motor rated at 240 kW and a 69.07 kWh Blade battery pack. Its specifications include a top speed of 200 km/h, consumption of 10.8 kWh per 100 km, and a CLTC‑rated range of 705 km.
Design cues and market outlook
Visually, the refreshed model adopts styling cues from the larger Seal 08, featuring split headlights, partially hidden door handles, and a single, wide taillight bar that spans the rear. The bonnet slopes sharply away from the windshield, giving the car a more athletic silhouette.

There is no confirmed launch date for markets outside China, where the Seal line represents BYD’s best‑selling sedan segment. The quick refresh may be a response to modest sales of the earlier version; reports noted only 627 units were sold in June, labeling the model a “flop.”
For everyday drivers, the larger cabin could translate into more rear‑seat comfort and additional cargo space, which may help BYD address feedback from families and ride‑share operators who found the original dimensions a bit cramped. If the new size improves practicality without sacrificing efficiency, it could make the sedan more appealing in a market that values both range and usability.
