Nissan has expanded its X-Trail lineup in Australia with three new hybrid models and a rugged Rock Creek variant for 2026, making its e-POWER system more accessible.
Hybrids go front-wheel drive, prices drop
The e-POWER hybrid system, previously limited to all-wheel drive, now includes front-wheel-drive versions of the ST-L, Ti, and Ti-L grades. The ST-L 2WD starts at $45,990 before on-road costs, which is $3,090 less than its all-wheel-drive equivalent. The Ti and Ti-L front-wheel-drive models are priced at $50,915 and $54,715.
Nissan’s system uses a petrol engine solely to generate electricity, while an electric motor powers the wheels. Switching to front-wheel drive improves efficiency, reducing combined fuel consumption from 6.1L/100km to 5.4L/100km. CO₂ emissions also drop from 139g/km to 123g/km.

This adjustment follows market trends, as around half of hybrid medium SUV buyers in Australia now choose two-wheel drive.
A rugged option for off-road styling
Nissan also introduced the X-Trail Rock Creek, a variant based on the petrol-powered ST-L 4WD. It costs $48,315 before on-road costs, a $2,435 increase over the standard model.
The Rock Creek comes only with seven seats and all-wheel drive. It features a distinctive front grille inspired by Nissan’s D21 ute, gloss-black trim, a custom front bumper, black roof rails, and 18-inch alloy wheels with orange accents. The interior includes ballistic nylon seat trim with embroidered badging, orange stitching, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 10.8-inch head-up display—improvements over the base ST-L.

Mechanically, the Rock Creek retains the standard petrol drivetrain and all-wheel-drive system.
Availability and warranty
Orders for the new front-wheel-drive e-POWER models and the Rock Creek are open now. Deliveries begin in September 2026. All 2026 X-Trail variants include Nissan’s 10-year/300,000km conditional warranty, along with capped-price servicing at $399 per visit for the first five years at authorized dealers.
The expanded range reflects growing demand for hybrid powertrains in Australia’s medium SUV segment, where buyers have increasingly shifted away from conventional petrol-only models.
